How To Add Apple Pay To Your Online Store

By admin, September 14, 2016

Apple Pay is a great way to optimize your website for a seamless online shopping experience for your customers. When you add Apple Pay, customers don’t have to enter in their credit card and shipping information to make a purchase. They simply tap the Apple Pay button and it scans their fingerprint, which then activates a prompt that will provide the necessary information to the payment gate.

We’re all about it. Here’s why:

  • Simpler payments – one touch activates the default payment method, which is easily overridden with a swipe

  • Secure and low risk – “device account number” is used instead of a credit card number

  • Private – no shopper tracking

  • No extra fees for retailers – only a portion of existing credit card transaction fees

You can use the Apple Pay button for your e-commerce site if:

  • You are using:

    • Shopify Payments

    • Stripe

    • FirstData Payeezy

    • Authorize.net

    • CyberSource

  • You have SSL activated on your store domain

  • Customer accounts must be set to optional or disabled

  • Customers must use Safari on iOS 10 or macOS Sierra to see the Apple Pay button during checkout

How to Activate Apple Pay on your e-commerce site:

  • Click Settings from your Shopify admin, then Payments.

  • Click Save.

Next time your customer visits your e-commerce site (if they have Safari on iOS or macOS Sierra), they will see this on your checkout page:

Once they click the button, they’ll go through the prompts until they are asked to use their fingerprint to authenticate.

That’s it! Enjoy!
